My house is not my home.

I don’t know, maybe I’m weird. (No, I know I am.) But, I have never felt completely at home. It could have something to do with the ebb and flow of people in and out of my life since I can remember or moving constantly… maybe, you’ve lived in the same house with your family as far back as you can remember. Yet, you still feel as though you don’t belong; because you don’t.

“For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.” Hebrews 13: 14 NLT

We are told over and over again that this world is not our home. So, if the whole world is not our home how are we supposed to feel at home inside four little walls? It becomes a lot easier when we realize that our house is God’s house. That it is all His, that He has blessed us with a shelter and wonderful people to fill it. Just recognizing His presence already makes it feel more like “home.” It helps and makes us feel less alone and less awkward when we realize that we aren’t supposed to be comfortable.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21: 4 KJV

Our home is in Heaven and we are just here to serve and share the good news of the gospel and God’s love for us until we are called HOME.
