Board Cooking Piano Laughter.

Soooo… the intentions of having a post ready days in advance are real, I promise. But, then bam it’s Sunday aaaand nothing, nada, zilch. Although in exchange for a flawless, perfectly worded, superbly punctuated article I present to you a cleaned and reorganized pantry, three empty laundry baskets, and a nearly empty sink. (Because let’s be honest, is it ever truly empty?) Along with a new (and now) completed canvas!

“But be sure to fear the LORD and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things He has done for you.” 1 Samuel 12: 24 NIV

Today has also brought the drying of coffee grounds, which means I will be making more coffee ground hand scrub in the near future; always exciting! It has also brought great company, and with great company comes great conversation. (I am truly blessed to have such wonderful people in my life.) The day has also been filled with board games, cooking, piano and laughter.

“Whatever you do, work at it will all your heart, as working for the Lord, and not for human masters,” Colossians 3: 23 NIV

This day also led to a new recipe “A La’ Mama” so without further adoVegetarian Bean and Rice Patty! (DF/GF)

We have everything we need for this recipe in our house on a regular basis, except for the hemp seeds. Would the recipe work without them? Also, we (almost) always soak our oat flakes overnight in water with some whey before cooking them or using them in recipes. I am guessing this recipe wouldn’t handle the extra moisture? I’ve considered soaking and then drying them gently in the oven for recipes that call for raw oats, but haven’t gotten that ambitious yet. (On a side note, we have Settlers of Catan, too!)

It would work without the Hemp seeds and if you are used to soaking the oats I’m sure roasting them in the oven would work just fine! The flavor might turn out a little different… but, other than that I can’t see why not!
