Coconut Life Bracelet Spinners.

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a “Sunday Funday” post so I thought that I would make the time to tell you what’s been going on around here!

First off, Mama made some yummy (dairy free/gluten free) macaroons the other day, the recipe was super simple and (of course) they turned out extremely yummy!

Mama let me take the first batch to Miss Norma and the ladies at the dialysis center where I pick her up; they were very excited!

Also this week, I spent some time teaching my younger siblings how to play “The Game of Life.” The comments and conversations had during this time were hilarious to say the least. While teaching a board game I learned some lessons myself… one of them being: patience. A six, seven and eleven year-old aren’t going to want to sit there and wait quietly for their turn. They are, however, going to want to reach across the board, knock stuff over, figure it out as they go and talk 10x louder than necessary because they are so excited and can’t hear themselves over one another…

I love them so much and they teach me everyday!

I also learned that a simple board game can turn into a math, an economic or even a history class really quick; and I love that! I absolutely love that I am able to teach them valuable lessons in a fun way at their varying levels of learning (and the fact that I got to spend time with them and make memories while it happened is priceless to me).

Thursday night was a busy one. We (and when I say we, I mean Mama) hosted a Norwex party for a stay at home mom from our Tuesday night fellowship. She sells these amazing organic, clean products that eliminate the need for harsh chemical cleaners around your home (and it cuts down on laundry as well). They have everything from toothbrushes and cutting boards to towels of all kinds – if you haven’t heard of them check them out! Mama has taught me the importance of supporting stay at home mamas in anyway you can. (I know, I’d appreciate someone doing that for me one day.)

I am fortunate to have heard pieces of her presentation about a week ago because I wasn’t able to sit down and listen this time; our friends from Plurway Ministries are going to be back in just a few short weeks and we had yet to start on the bracelet packets they left us a few months ago… when I say “packets” I actually mean 100 count bracelet kits. We had three of them. We were very fortunate to have a few girls, along with one my brothers and one of my sisters, volunteer their time to help us knock them out! Six hours later we were able to seal up a full bag and another quarter of a bag of finished bracelets for them to pick up when they come.

What a joy to be the hands and feet of Jesus!

They hand out these bracelets at the clubs, raves and festivals where they “set up shop.” They minister and help the young people who are lost, hurt, overdosing, etc. It is extremely sad and heart breaking to hear the stories that they share. But, it is also heart warming to hear the stories of people who have given their lives to God because of them. To know that there are people out there reaching out to every group you can think of is both inspiring and hope giving. If you spent any length of time talking to Rob, Colleen, or any of the Plurway members you would see why they are so good at what they do; they are incredibly welcoming and make you feel comfortable where ever you are. If you, or someone you know, needs some direction in this way I would like encourage you to reach out to them.

You always wonder who makes these things; maybe they simply come from a factory. Not these. All of the Plurway bracelets are handmade. By volunteers all across the country. While, by the end of a six hour production line of beading my back was starting to ache and the letters were running together I am incredibly grateful that I got the opportunity to be apart of this ministry even if in such a small way. To be able to pray over the bracelets knowing they may lead someone to truly know God (cue the goosebumps) was so special and I look forward to the chance to do it again!

Lastly (wow, this is turning out longer than I expected… a lot really did happen this week didn’t it), I am sure you have heard all about the new, cool, awesome, fantastical gadget called a fidget spinner. No? That’s okay I was behind the times too… well, this new highly sought after invention has been a high topic of conversation around here (and I guess on this thing called the… internet, as well) and you’ll never guess what it does!! You hold it between your fingers aaaaand iiiiit! Spins. That’s it. People are spending anywhere from just one to thousands… thousands of dollars on these things. But, you know what my genius little sister did? She made her own. Out of legos!

Making your own toys is always more fun!

(As you can tell) This last week was very fun and eventful! I am excited to see what God has in store for this next week and how He is going to fill my days. I hope that you have enjoyed this “week summary” and that you have a blessed rest of your Sunday!

What are the plans for the rest of your Sunday? We are having friends over for a pizza bar!

What new recipes have you made lately?

How could you volunteer your time to teach someone something new or help a local ministry?

What is something you normally spend a lot of money on, but could make yourself?

P.S. – I almost forgot! We transferred our kombucha scoby to another pot of fresh brewed black tea Friday night! It has reached quiiiite the density and has a rather… impressive… diameter (it is basically the size of my face). Kombucha is so healthy and good for your body and it’s yummy (win, win)!

It’s not at gross as it looks I promise! Ha!

My recipe this week was no bake cocoa yum yums

    oats
    coconut
    coconut oil
    a bit of honey
    a few sprinkles of salt
    cocoa powder

Really I don’t measure. There are optional things like the oats. Someone else adds peanut butter. And it just has to hold together to make balls, which I used my tablespoon measure to scoop (although one of those chunka-chunka ballers would be super). Mix with wooden spoon, potato masher or by clean hands (then have fun like I did yesterday with Lydia (16) and make mustaches on each other and giggle!!)
I refrigerate it since it has coconut oil and melts SOOOO easily. They are nutritionally dense and tasty. Everyone who came for dinner last night liked them.

Fun and quick. When I want chocolate I do this!

You are so blessed to be able to spend so much time with those sweet little ones! I could almost hear their laughter and happy chatter in the background of this post. We (well, Mom actually) have been learning to soak beans. Not as exciting as cookies, but so good. Also, they are much healthier AND cheaper than canned beans from the store. How often does that happen? 😀

I feel very blessed indeed! That sounds like a lot of fun too; healthier AND cheaper is definitely rare but a blessing as well!
