Hello fellow dairy-free ice cream lovers! Dairy-full ice cream lovers I think you’ll love this one too! As you can probably tell, this “Haul-A-Day” is another dessert one…
I love ice cream and I am so glad that when I discovered my sensitivity to dairy I didn’t have to give it up!
I am realizing how many people have problems with dairy and “sensitive tummies.” There really is no logical reason to continue suffering. To me the pain and symptoms are simply not worth a taste that lasts about as long as it takes you to eat… on the same token you shouldn’t not have the opportunity to eat yummy, delicious treats.
So, “I took one for the team” here and have compiled a post of four different brands and flavors of dairy-free ice cream! I hope that this post will help you and provide “healthier” alternatives for you and your body that you love. For those of you who are just fine with dairy and are just looking to try something new and delicious I hope this helps you too!
1. Simple Truth: Sea Salt Caramel
This one right here is amazing! Let me start with the fact that it tastes like caramel birthday cake batter… YUM. (and you can eat the entire pint for 570 calories…)
While, naturally, it isn’t as creamy as your regular ice cream I still think they are doing an amazing job with this line of ice creams and it is not nearly as “icey” as a lot of dairy-free frozen desserts.
I tried to find the almond dessert line on the “Simple Truth” website but I was unable to locate it… but, I did find some other fun looking dairy alternatives. That being said, you can (most likely) find this brand at your local Smith’s grocery store.
And! As far as “natural,” organic, dairy-free ice cream goes it is probably the most reasonable price wise that I have found, so far.
2. Coconut Bliss: Chocolate Peanut Butter
Chocolate Peanut Butter strikes again!
This stuff… Is. My. Childhood. Of course when I was little (and, sadly, even a couple years ago) I didn’t understand, or really care, whether or not my ice cream had dairy.
Honestly, I don’t see a difference between this and the Ben and Jerry’s chocolate peanut butter ice cream I remember eatting pint after pint of.
Luna and Larry know what they are doing!
Their ice cream is unbelievably rich and creamy and just, perfect. Most dairy-free ice creams you have to give a minute to soften a little but not this one! It is ready to go when you are. Their ratio of peanut butter chucks to “ice cream” is just right. (They don’t skimp on the good stuff!)
3. Nada Moo: The Rockiest Road
So far this is the only flavor I have tried from the “Nada Moo!” brand. Though they have an extensive variety of organic, non-GMO flavors! Their ice cream is, again, very smooth and soft and creamy and delicious.
For me personally, the only thing I have to say is that I wish there had been more chunks of chocolate and nuts and that there had been at least one marshmallow. While, my brother Kasey on the other hand, does not like marshmallows and loved it!
“A delicious chocolate, coconut ice cream!”
I would definitely recommend this family owned brand. They are amazing and continuously work to help their community and provide delicious dairy-free alternatives.
4. Almond Dream: Cappuccino Swirl
This is easily a new favorite. If it’s available I reach for this one. I am not 100% certain on what the ingredients of the “swirls” found within the ice cream are… but, I am pretty sure one of them is happiness.
I consider this one a real treat. It is so decadent and light yet rich and creamy (okay, I promise I’m done using the words rich and/or creamy for the duration of this post).
I have not tried anymore flavors from this brand but I sure look forward to it!!
In summary, these are just four of the brands that I have come across and love.
As for price: we tend to lean toward the sale and coupon opportunities ’round these parts… these “healthier” ice creams naturally tend to be a bit more expensive. But, so very worth it!
I hope that you have enjoyed this week’s “Sunday Funday!”
