Hey there! I know it’s been awhile… So, I thought that I would take some time today and get you caught up on what is new and happening in my life.
Some of you may know: I have been a little, “preoccupied” with, you know, moving half way across the country. …And then, back again.
Yep! You read that right. Long, crazy beautiful story short, Texas wasn’t quite what we thought it would be after all.
Our Heavenly Father has led us back to our lovely desert. He has a plan. His ways are greater than our ways. May His will alone be done.
Ephesians 2: 10
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
But, that is over a month ago now. So, moving on… I realize one of the (silly) things (for some reason unknown to me) that always seems overwhelming or “daunting” when I think about blogging is making those little pictures with the verse over them.
In reality they don’t take that long to make; however, it is just one more thing that takes up time and I feel “has to be done.” My mind wants a clear and clean cut site here… while, apparently, my heart wants more of an organic flow. So, here we are.
(As you can see… I would like to incorporate more of my handlettering type stuff though!)
Life is too wonderfully and beautifully crazy for me to try and have some sort of a “plan.” I cannot promise you perfect posts uploaded at a specific time each week… What I can promise is that when I do meet you here, is that I will be all here.
I’ll do my best to be genuine and wholehearted as I share what our Heavenly Father is doing in my life in hopes of encouraging you in some way.
Hebrews 10: 23-25
“23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

As (I am sure) I have mentioned before, my Heavenly Father has blessed me with a season in my life where I don’t have to “punch a clock.” Being able to write and create so much while I serve my LORD by serving my family is a ginormous blessing that I pray I never take for granted. While on the other hand I don’t want to get so caught up in “keeping appearances” that I miss the people, life and opportunities right in front of me.
1 Peter 4: 10
“As each one has received a gift, minister is to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”
The more you know, huh?

Your post came at a great time! My “schedule” varies widely, making it difficult to work consistently on my composing and writing. I have often tried to fit my schedule into a nice box: consistent sleep and waking times, work, and liesure/ family time. However, it seems that no sooner do I get into a routine than it is broken again. That used to be a point of major frustration. What was I doing wrong? Why couldn’t I ever finish everything? This year, though, I have begun weeding out unnecessary tasks, and becoming more aware of why my plans go awry during the day. In nearly every case, the “interruption” was what I would have chosen if given the choice beforehand. So, it seems my “schedule” (or lack thereof) is actually getting closer to what it should be: I still try to plan out my day, but God, family, and others come first. I have never regretted trading my work for time with family, when I remember to look at it that way.

I’m working on making priorities! What a difficult thing to do. Paul preached the gospel by day but his trade was in tent making and helped when he could. He preached the gospel and never asked for provision. Luke was a physician of sorts but gave it up for the gospel. We hold so tight to our day jobs instead of spreading the truth in dangerous places. We are here for a reason. Glad you guys are back. Preach it!

Such wise words and perspective! Glad to be back! No matter what our “day job” is or how we “fill” our day our true purpose is always to glorify and serve our God and I think there is great comfort to be found in that!
